NYC High School Students Prepare for College in PERC Classes

Typical PERC students and TASs begin the program with below-average Math and ELA Regent test scores, but they improve significantly over the course of the program. TASs especially gain in college readiness, becoming 2.4 times more likely to reach college benchmarks compared to well-matched peers from other schools.

Stay tuned for analyses of Year 4 PERC students! In the first two years we found that PERC Living Environment students were 1.5x as likely to past the end-of-course examination. We didn’t find any significant difference in PERC students’ scores on the Integrated Algebra exam compared to a matched peer group, but between Years 1 and 2, our PERC students’ scores improved. We’re excited to report back on our next analysis of the effect of PERC on students’ Common Core Algebra 1 exam scores from Year 4 of our program!
